Mary C. Menard, DVM

Dr. Menard is a graduate of the Ohio State University School of Veterinary Medicine, and a long time resident of New York. She opened the practice in Salem in 1996 and has enjoyed the many years of building relationships with pets and their owners. Borador Animal Hospital is a small animal practice with a small town feel where the focus has been and continues to be on providing personalized care for our patients with up to date medicine and surgery. Dr. Menard enjoys working with both large animals (horses and alpacas) and small animals (cats and dogs) but has recently limited the practice to small animals, to ensure excellent care. She has many animals of her own, both large and small, and her miniature donkeys, Walter and Fionna, keep her very busy and entertained. She also enjoys hiking, riding, and gardening. Professionally, Dr. Menard is a member of many organizations (American Veterinary Medical Society, American Association of Feline Practitioners, Capital District Veterinary Medical SocietyVermont Veterinary Medical Society and The Humane Society Veterinary Medical Association) and volunteers as a board member of the Washington County Farm Bureau, and SAYA (Salem Area Youth Association).

Lisa Fronhofer Oswald, DVM

Dr. Oswald graduated from Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004.  After graduation, she moved to the Boston area where she worked as an emergency veterinarian, small animal practitioner, and had her own house call practice.   She moved back to her hometown of Salem and joined Borador in 2016.  She particularly enjoys working with clients to protect the human animal bond and enhance the level of wellness for their pets through all life stages.  Dr. Oswald lives in Salem with her husband, Charlie, and their two young sons, Thomas and Jeffrey.  They also share their home with their black labrador retriever, Sassafras, and their two kitties Yohimbine and Meowie.  In her spare time, she loves hiking, spending time with her large extended family, reading, and being outside as much as possible.

Shannon Talmadge
Practice Manager

Shannon began working for Borador as a technician assistant during breaks from college until graduation from Oneonta State in 1999. After graduation, she enjoyed working in the dairy industry as a milk inspector and then as a farm manager on two large dairies in Northern Vermont. She returned to the area and fulfilled the role as practice manager in 2005. Shannon lives in Argyle with her husband, Scott and daughter, Sadie.  They share their home with two crazy kitties, Barley and Basil.


Lynn Dunster

Lynn joined our team as a veterinary technician assistant in September 2009. A graduate of Cobleskill College and Adirondack Community College, she has spent many years in the field of human health care, now turning toward animal health to fulfill a life long passion. At home, she cares for her 3 dogs, 5 cats and 7 ducks. Agility with her dogs and volunteering with an animal rescue group fill her spare time. 

Lynn retired in December 2018 but we are excited that she will continue to provide baths and brush outs for our patients.

Laura Periard

Animal Care Technician

Laura has been a very important part of Borador since spring of 2001 as one of our Animal Care Technicians. She attended BOCES in Hudson Falls and Adirondack Community College studying to become a nurse. Laura previously worked in our boarding facility but her dedication and love for animals quickly moved her to the animal care technician position. She shares her home with her husband, Chad and son, Christopher, along with 1 dog, 4 cats and 1 ferret. Laura's older son, Derreck, lives in town close by. Laura enjoys spending time with her family which includes traveling during the summer to county fairs to cheer on Chad and Christopher at their tractor pulls and going camping. Laura's husband has been working on a Volkswagon Bug that she would love to drive around and hopefully someday she will!

Laura Gangloff
Licensed Veterinary Technician

Laura is a licensed veterinary technician who graduated from SUNY Delhi in May of 2006. As an animal lover since childhood, it only seemed natural for her to work in this profession. She has been working at Borador since June of 2005, but her family's pets have been cared for by Borador for many years. She enjoys her job, and finds it very rewarding to help nurse critically ill patients back to health. Laura currently lives in Eagle Bridge with her boyfriend, Devin.  They share their home with their lab mix, Milo and cat, Bailey. She also loves taking care of her miniature horses, Charlie and Rosie. In her free time, Laura enjoys reading and horseback riding.

Marisa Clippinger
Client Care Specialist 

Marisa joined the Borador Team in June 2016.  She currently resides in South Glens Falls with her two sons, Blake and Brantley.  She has enjoyed working in the veterinary field for over 8 years.  In her spare time, Marisa enjoys spending time outdoors with her boys and their dog, Sophie.


Nancy Painter
Client Care Specialist/Office Assistant

Nancy has been a client of Borador Animal Hospital for many years and has now joined the practice as a client care specialist. Nancy and her husband, Dick, moved to the Salem area in 1974. Before joining Borador, Nancy worked from home as a medical transcriptionist for 22 years so she could raise their 4 children. Nancy is involved in teaching kids at her church. The Painter's share their home with their 4 dogs; Diego, Jack, Toby and Nado.  In her free time, Nancy enjoys spending time with her 12 grandchildren and working with her dogs in agility and taking the dogs to visit the residents in the area nursing home.

Chrissy Johnson

Client Care Specialist

 Chrissy is originally from Salem but grew up in Rhode Island.  She moved back to the area 6 years ago and joined the Borador Team in November 2016.  She attended Southern Vermont College and has been working in the customer care industry for several years.  Chrissy enjoys hiking with her three doggies, Cash, B and Lucy.  She also enjoys riding her horses, Whiskey and Bandit.


Margaret Eddy
Veterinary Technician Assistant

Margaret is a native of Shushan and continues to live there with her husband, Trevor, and their son, Sam.  They share their home with their dog, Sierra, and 5 cats.  She has spent her life on a small farm and has had the privilege of being around a variety of large and small animals.  Along with working the farm, she has spent over 15 years in the customer care business.  Margaret is excited about being part of the Borador Team and working with animals.  She enjoys spending time with her family, helping others, cooking, gardening and being outdoors.
